How to Connect to BMCC-EDUROAM

Body

Eduroam (Education Roaming) is a secure wireless network service that enables students, faculty, and staff to access Wi-Fi at CUNY and participating institutions worldwide using their CUNY login credentials. This service offers a seamless and encrypted connection, ensuring both security and convenience while traveling between campuses or visiting partner universities. Follow the steps below to connect to BMCC-Eduroam on your device and enjoy access to academic and research resources.

 

Windows (10/11)

      1.    Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).

      2.    Select BMCC-Eduroam from the list of available networks.

      3.    Enter your CUNY Login credentials:

      Username: joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu

      Password: Your CUNYfirst password

      4.    Click Connect and accept any security certificate if prompted.

 

MacBook

      1.    Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the top-right menu bar.

      2.    Select BMCC-Eduroam from the network list.

      3.    Enter your CUNY Login credentials:

      Username: joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu

      Password: Your CUNYfirst password

      4.    If prompted, click Trust to accept the certificate.

      5.    You should now be connected.

 

iPhone/iPad

      1.    Open Settings and go to Wi-Fi.

      2.    Tap BMCC-Eduroam from the list.

      3.    Enter your CUNY Login credentials:

      Username: joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu

      Password: Your CUNYfirst password

      4.    Tap Join and accept any certificate request.

      5.    You should now be connected.

 

Android

      1.    Open Settings and go to Wi-Fi.

      2.    Select BMCC-Eduroam from the available networks.

      3.    Set the following options:

      EAP Method: PEAP

      Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

      CA Certificate: Use System Certificate (or select “Do not validate” if no option is available)

      Identity: joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu

      Anonymous Identity: (Leave blank)

      Password: Your CUNYfirst password

      4.    Tap Connect, and you should be online.

 

Chromebook

      1.    Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the lower-right corner.

      2.    Select BMCC-Eduroam and configure the following settings:

      EAP Method: PEAP

      Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

      Server CA Certificate: Do not check

      Identity: joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu

      Password: Your CUNYfirst password

      3.    Click Connect, and you should be online.

 

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Incorrect Credentials: Ensure you are using your complete CUNYfirst login credentials (joe.doe10@login.cuny.edu). Additionally, make sure you can log into your CUNYfirst  account.
  • Certificate Issues: If prompted, accept the security certificate to proceed.
  • Network Not Showing: Try restarting your device or manually adding the network in Wi-Fi settings.
  • Persistent Connection Issues: Forget the BMCC-Eduroam network in settings and try reconnecting.
